This was the nicest welcome center I've been to in a long time! If you are passing through, take the few minutes to walk up to the overlook. It is nice to have a moment surrounded by trees and the views are nice. It was a great place to let my little one run off some energy in the middle of a long car trip.
Very clean. Nice outdoor seating. Great place to stretch your legs. Walk the overlook trail to see the famous & historic Greenbriar Resort.
Modern rest stop with lots of information on local and state events. Person working the Information kiosk was very friendly.
I always stop at this rest area whenever I am traveling from Roanoke. It is always impeccably clean on every trip. The staff is knowledgeable and always willing to answer any question a traveller might have. The scenery in the vicinity is breathtaking since you can look down into the surrounding valleys. There are scenic overlooks a short walk away. They are well worth the the hike up the hill directly adjacent the the rest area. I always tell the staff it is the best rest area ever.
Take a quick walk around the building to discover a short path up a hill to a scenic overlook even more stunning than the one from the parking lot. West Virginia sure knows how to show off its beauty to travelers!!
